Cape House is a residence of exceptional comfort and privacy

Dining

Cape House offers 300 sq metres of living area, with all rooms enjoying panoramic views across the rainforest and Coral Sea to Port Douglas, the Low Isles and to Cairns.

A deep and shaded verandah to the north looks onto lush rainforest and leads to manicured tropical gardens. The Javanese day bed and air chair hammocks invite you to sleep, read and daydream.  A gas BBQ and outdoor dining for eight make a long lazy lunch irresistible.

The Master queen bedroom enjoys a 180 degree panorama of rainforest and Coral Sea views. A stunning ensuite (with twin handbasins, bidet and full bath), opens to a private rainforest verandah.

Two further queen bedrooms, guest lounge and second bathroom are located discretely at the opposite end of the residence. All with views to the Daintree River and Port Douglas, these rooms afford couples or children space and privacy. A mezzanine level loft offers a flexible space – for reading, sleeping or playing.

The timber chef’s kitchen features polished Cooktown Ironwood benchtops, a fully equipped pantry and gourmet five burner gas stove. Relax while you serve meals or drinks from the breakfast bar looking across the rainforest to the sea. Dine on the verandah and watch the evening fall over the rainforest and the lights at sea in the distance – or 8 – 10 can dine at the solid oak dining table with the same views.

Need to write or just contemplate? A separate study area, furnished with a desk and comfortable chair provides a place to work. The main and second bedrooms each include a sitting area furnished with an antique table and chairs, offering an inspirational place to put pen to paper or just read.

Uncertain about the weather? The open plan lounge and dining areas enjoy superb natural ventilation in the warmer months, and are made cosy and warm in the cooler winter months with the addition of a slow combustion stove and ample firewood ready for your use.
